As the Business Women Forum of Swaziland (BWFS) grows, women in the corporate sector will be engaged to advocate for fairer policies.
The Forum will also ensure that more women have access to formal jobs.
Mentorship
BWFS Chairperson Dudu Dlamini noted that through the mentorship of corporate women, emerging businesswomen would gain personal support and advice.
Since establishment in 2007, BWFS had been working to improve women’s economic empowerment through a number of channels.
Support
“The Forum acts as a source of support, advocacy, information, networking and recognition for Swazi businesswomen.
“We are passionate about helping to create a more conducive environment for every women in the country to succeed.
“We are proud to have members from many levels of enterprise; from micro and mid-level entrepreneurs to corporate representatives,” she said.
In the past quarter, the Forum held a number of workshops and events geared at generating business growth and equality for women.
Marketing
In September, women farmers came from rural areas throughout the country to improve their skills in marketing, budgeting and product decisions.
A symposium at the Mavuso Trade Centre was also hosted for women entrepreneurs where they exhibited their products, services and attended seminar on financial management.
Working
Meanwhile, Gena Davis from Technoserve said BWFS was working to support women in the formal business sector and bring other women into successful businesses or enterprises.
She said the Forum was representative of all women in the country.
